The company aims to accommodate the next generation of Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) servers, enhancing its Bitcoin production.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.cryptopolitan.com/hive-technologies-bitcoin-mining-asic-miner/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Hive Digital Technologies</a> has taken a significant step in fortifying its presence in the cryptocurrency mining landscape with the acquisition of a property and data center in Boden, Sweden. The company, known for its commitment to green energy practices, aims to utilize the new facility to house the upcoming ASIC servers and boost its Bitcoin production.</p>
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="expansion-plans-in-sweden">Expansion plans in Sweden</h2>
<p>In a recent announcement, Hive disclosed that it has entered into a property transfer agreement with Turis AB, acquiring a data center previously established as part of the European Union’s Horizon 2020 project. The newly acquired property, strategically located in close proximity to Hive’s existing data center in Sweden, is poised to become a key asset in the company’s portfolio.</p>
<p>The primary objective behind this expansion is to house the next generation of ASIC servers, a crucial component in the cryptocurrency mining process. By integrating these advanced servers, Hive aims to increase its Bitcoin production, aligning with the company’s growth strategy and responding to the evolving dynamics of the cryptocurrency market.</p>
<p>Johanna Thornblad, Hive’s country president for Sweden, emphasized the significance of the new data center, stating, “The new data center will enable HIVE to grow its regional footprint while further demonstrating its commitment to its ESG focus, sustainable practices, environmental responsibility, and energy efficiency with its newest ‘green’ energy powered data center.”</p>
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="emphasis-on-green-energy">Emphasis on green energy</h2>
<p>Hive Digital Technologies has consistently advocated for the use of green energy in its mining operations. With a portfolio that spans Canada, Sweden, and Iceland, the company positions itself as a proponent of environmentally conscious practices in the cryptocurrency industry. The new data center in Sweden is expected to adhere to these principles, further establishing Hive’s dedication to sustainable and energy-efficient mining.</p>
<p>Earlier in 2023, Hive underwent a strategic rebranding by dropping the term “blockchain” from its official name. This move, according to the company, reflects its evolving focus on financial opportunities in artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and graphics processing units (GPUs). The shift toward AI, however, does not diminish Hive’s involvement in Bitcoin and crypto mining. The leadership at Hive affirms that “blockchain and AI can certainly co-exist” and remain “pillars of Web3.”</p>

<p>Hive has been actively participating in industry initiatives, such as the Digital Power Network (DPN), launched in collaboration with other mining companies in September. The DPN, affiliated with the Chamber of Digital Commerce, underscores the importance of proof-of-work (PoW) mining in the cryptocurrency ecosystem.</p>
