This historic initiative, although non-binding, marks a crucial step in prioritizing security measures in AI systems right from their inception.</p>

<p>The international agreement, outlined in a 20-page document released recently, brings together 18 countries, including the United States, Singapore, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Poland, Australia, Chile, Israel, and Nigeria. While it is non-binding, this agreement underscores the shared commitment to develop and deploy AI systems with a primary focus on safeguarding both consumers and the broader public against potential misuse.</p>
<p>Jen Easterly, Director of the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), emphasized the significance of this agreement. It is the first instance where multiple nations have collectively affirmed the necessity of prioritizing security during the design phase of AI systems. Easterly emphasized that these guidelines go beyond mere features and market competition, stressing the importance of security considerations.</p>

The code emphasizes that companies must actively take measures to identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks throughout the AI lifecycle.</p>
<p>Similarly, the European Union has made substantial progress by reaching an early agreement on the Artificial Intelligence Act, potentially becoming the world’s inaugural comprehensive set of laws regulating the use of AI technology. Under this act, companies utilizing generative AI tools like ChatGPT and Midjourney are required to disclose any copyrighted material used in developing their systems. The legislation is currently undergoing collaboration between EU lawmakers and member states to finalize the bill’s details. AI tools are categorized based on the risk level they pose, ranging from low to limited, high, or unacceptable.</p>

<p>As the global momentum for regulating AI continues to build, the Group of Seven (G7) is gearing up to establish a code of conduct for advanced AI systems.
