Perlin coin is the native cryptocurrency of PerlinX, a decentralized finance interface platform that allows users to trade any type of asset with each other through incentivized liquidity mining and synthetic asset production.
PerlinX utilizes incentivized liquidity provision through the use of liquidity pools supported by the Balancer protocol. Participants can stake their PERL tokens to provide liquidity and be rewarded for it. Initially, rewards for liquidity provision are distributed in PERL, BAL, and UMA tokens.

In addition, PerlinX also uses the UMA protocol to create synthetic assets. Each asset is supported by its own price feed backed by UMA’s Data Verification Mechanism (DVM), a decentralized oracle designed to solve the problem of central and corrupted oracle price feeds. All synthetic assets in PerlinX have the prefix ‘px’ (e.g., PxGold, pxCarbon, etc.).
