Pandemic delight is over for Roblox employees as the metaverse company plans to bring them on-site. Their CEO, Dave Baszucki, shared an email on the official blog, asking the remote force to transition away from remote work to their San Mateo headquarters. The Minecraft rival explained the decision would be significant for the employees and their families. 
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="strong-tough-choice-on-the-table-strong">Tough Choice on the Table</h2> 
First reported by news media, The Verge, Dave shared the “rationale for this decision.” The work went remote following the pandemic in 2020. He says, “What we initially thought would be a few weeks turned into a few years, and I was impressed with how much we were able to get done under truly extraordinary circumstances.” 
<a href="https://www.thecoinrepublic.com/2023/01/18/rblx-stock-decembers-key-metric-report-and-analysts-optimist-view-for-roblox/">Roblox </a>CEO takes newcomers in the game to describe the significance of senior employees in mentoring them. They “typically learn through social contact and would miss out on this mentorship.”&nbsp; Moreover, he also presented the possibility of hybrid work. 
However, people working in specific areas including data centers, moderators, call centers and more will not be asked to return on-site. The rest of the remote workers are given the option to choose from a hybrid schedule or a severance package. They can submit their response by January 16, 2024. As of now, the company employs nearly 2.1K employees globally.&nbsp; 
Recently, the metaverse game marked 10 Million downloads on PlayStation (PS), showing its growing popularity globally. The Verge reported experiences on Roblox including Pet Simulator X, Blade Ball, All Star Tower Defence, and more are made available on PS4 and PS5. 
The platform is reportedly making its debut on Nintendo, however, no official announcement has been delivered from the company yet. The metaverse game is available on a range of devices including Meta Quest 3, Microsoft Windows, Android, and more. 
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="strong-supervisors-are-not-resilient-to-remote-workers-strong">Supervisors Are Not Resilient to Remote Workers</h2> 
Recent studies highlight that remote work culture is gaining significant traction. About 98 percent of respondents in one of these studies wanted to work from the comfort of their homes. An estimate indicates that 32.6 Million Americans are likely to work remotely by 2025. It accounts for nearly 10 percent of the nation’s population. 
This could be a bad sign for the metaverse. Several people already deem the space as boring. Virtual spaces are supposed to enhance the quality of remote work. Nevertheless, it is unlikely it can achieve this when there’s a scarcity of remote work. According to American magazine Forbes, flexible hours, internet assistance, home office stipend, and more remain the leading benefits desired by remote workers. 
Several of them claim they have become more productive at home. Moreover, studies highlight that many employees are accustomed to leaving the job if they are not allowed to work remotely. According to the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), supervisors do not think highly of remote work.
