Dr. James Wan, a Georgia-based physician, has admitted to a shocking plot to use Bitcoin on the dark web to arrange a murder-for-hire scheme. He tried to make it look like his girlfriend died in a staged carjacking. Dark web murder plot using Bitcoin revealed&nbsp; 
According to a report by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Wan initiated this dark web planning in April 2022. He also provided detailed information about his girlfriend, like her Facebook page and her car. To finalize the deal, he paid around $24,200 in Bitcoin. Wan encountered issues while making the first payment because of the wrong wallet address. 
Further, the operation by Wan also gained setbacks while securing the murder contract. However, to trigger this operation he made an initial down payment of $8,000 worth of Bitcoin, but it ended up in the wrong place.&nbsp; A week later, Wan made another $8,000 Bitcoin transfer to ensure the contract had sufficient funds. After this, he started inquiring about the progress of his plan on the dark web.

Despite his impatience, the murder plan was never carried out, and Dr. Wan’s actions were exposed. Keri Farley, a Special Agent from the FBI in Atlanta, said, “Wan’s terrible plan failed because of the hard work of our team. He will now face the full consequences of the criminal justice system.”
Now, Dr. James Wan will be sentenced in January 2024, and his case highlights the dangers of using the dark web and cryptocurrencies for illegal activities. The case serves as a stark reminder of the challenges posed by emerging technologies in the realm of criminal justice.
Several illicit activities are continually on the rise, and governments around the world are developing plans to combat such activities with the <a href="https://news.todayq.com/israeli-law-enforcement-freezes-over-100-binance-crypto-accounts-linked-to-hamas/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">assistance of cryptocurrency exchanges</a>.
Recently, the <a href="https://news.todayq.com/hamas-received-41-million-in-crypto-through-donations-prior-to-israels-attack/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">use of crypto in illegal activity</a> was evident as Hamas received a significant $41 million worth of cryptocurrency before Israel’s attack. Subsequently, Israeli authorities, with the help of Binance (a cryptocurrency exchange), seized over 200 crypto wallets linked to Hamas.
