 Ordswap, a marketplace for Bitcoin Ordinals, has taken actions to address a recent security breach that compromised its website. The platform introduced a tool, as<a href="https://twitter.com/ordswap/status/1711573199912136879" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow"> announced</a> on its X account on October 10, 2023, to assist users who logged in using MetaMask to regain access to their private keys and transfer their assets to other service providers.

Earlier, on October 9, 2023, Ordswap <a style="color: #0000ff;" href="https://twitter.com/ordswap/status/1711573199912136879" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">issued a warning</a> urging users not to access its website as it lost control over its domain. Few hours later after its warning, the platform announced that it was already working on how to help its users to recover their assets.

Some users had noticed a suspicious button on the website, prompting them to connect their crypto wallets.&nbsp;
Ordswap has, however, attributed this security issue to their website service provider, <a style="color: #0000ff;" href="https://www.netlify.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Netlify.</a>
The Ordswap team has emphasized that users’ private keys and assets have not been compromised despite the security breach. However, they have issued a warning urging users not to access their website further, as continued interaction could jeopardize their security.
This Ordswap incident is the latest of a series of hacks and scams that have plagued the cryptocurrency sector in recent months; with an escalation in September 2023. Interestingly, this incident resembles a similar <a style="color: #0000ff;" href="https://www.financialwatchngr.com/2023/09/20/balancer-defi-protocol-faces-frontend-attack-238k-in-crypto-reportedly-stolen/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">attack on Balancer</a>, an Ethereum-based platform, in late September 2023. In this attack, scammers stole approximately $240,000 from the platform.&nbsp;
Balancer suspected that the attackers manipulated their DNS service provider through social engineering tactics to deceive users into approving a harmful contract, ultimately draining their wallets.
Similarly, in August, software development company Retool disclosed that 27 accounts of its cloud customers were<a style="color: #0000ff;" href="https://thehackernews.com/2023/09/retool-falls-victim-to-sms-based.html" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow"> compromised in an SMS-based phishing attack</a>. According to the company, it happened at the time the company was migrating their logins to Okta.
