The Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has <a href="https://home.treasury.gov/news/press-releases/jy1763" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">imposed </a>sanctions on a critical operative of Mexico’s notorious Sinaloa Cartel. The targeted individual, identified as Jimenez Castro, has allegedly been utilizing an Ethereum wallet to facilitate money transfers associated with the smuggling of fentanyl into the United States. 
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Treasury exposed Jimenez Castro’s role in overseeing a money laundering operation that exploits virtual currency and wire transfers to funnel proceeds to the upper echelons of the Sinaloa Cartel.&nbsp;
