Surprisingly, the banking sector trails behind Bitcoin mining, utilizing just under 40% of sustainable energy, underscoring the cryptocurrency industry’s considerable strides in sustainability. 
Moreover, it’s noteworthy that Bitcoin has systematically reduced its emission intensity over the past four years. According to Daniel Batten, the data demonstrates a remarkable 50% decline in emission intensity, positioning Bitcoin mining as the industry with the lowest emission intensity across major global industries. 
These findings contradict common perceptions that associate Bitcoin mining with high energy consumption and environmental degradation, instead highlighting the industry’s commitment to sustainable operations.
