Srettha Thavisin, a 61-year-old business magnate, is best known for his leadership of Sansiri, one of Thailand’s largest real estate developers. Before his foray into politics, Thavisin made significant strides in the property sector and was an active participant in the nation’s crypto landscape. Under his leadership, Sansiri acquired a 15% stake in the Thai digital asset service provider XSpring and even launched the SiriHub Token, a real estate investment trust-like (REIT) solution.

During his campaign, Thavisin made headlines with a bold promise: a $300 crypto airdrop (equivalent to 10,000 Thai baht) for every Thai citizen aged 16 and older upon his election. This initiative, designed to be spent within a 4-kilometer radius of each recipient’s home, showcased his commitment to integrating digital assets into the Thai economy. However, the feasibility and execution of this airdrop remain subjects of debate and anticipation.

The company played a pivotal role in a $225 million funding round for XSpring Capital, which subsequently launched a comprehensive cryptocurrency trading platform. With ambitions to rank among the top three crypto exchanges by 2025, XSpring’s endeavors, backed by Thavisin’s Sansiri, signal a promising future for crypto in Thailand.
