Crypto Undertakings in Portugal in Detail
If you are a foreign entrepreneur, you are legally allowed to set up a crypto company in Portugal and receive a relevant license to operate it. Keep in mind that the taxes you will pay and the requirements you will have to comply with depend on the legal form of your business and its location.
Crypto company founders in Portugal typically choose one of the following two legal forms to register their company:

LLC, or Limited Liability Company (LDA in Portuguese)

JSC, or Joint-Stock Company (SA in Portuguese)

The amount of taxes varies considerably for companies incorporated in Portugal and Madeira:

A crypto business in Portugal will be liable for a standard company income tax of 14.7%.

However, Madeira offers an opportunity to reduce this amount to 5%, which may be decisive. All you need to do is to obtain a license that will allow you to carry out your activities in the International Business Center of Madeira (IBCM), the local free trade zone.
