Utah-based Nodal Power has secured $13 million to expand its practice of converting methane gas from landfills into <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/crypto-mining-with-flare-gas-a-green-solution-or-environmental-setback/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">electricity</a> for <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/terawulf-reveals-impact-of-location-on-energy-costs-for-bitcoin-mining/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Bitcoin mining</a> <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/crypto-miners-shift-gears-ai-is-the-new-gold-rush/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">data centers</a>. Methane, a byproduct of decomposition, contributes to global warming; Nodal Power takes this leaking gas and puts it to use, according to <a href="https://blockworks.co/news/nodal-bitcoin-mining-methane" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">blockworks</a>.&nbsp; 
A recent report by KPMG found that methane gas flaring could cut down on emissions if adopted widely. Currently, Nodal Power operates two mining <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/crypto-miners-shift-gears-ai-is-the-new-gold-rush/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">data centers</a> in the <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/major-bitcoin-mining-pool-foundry-usa-to-introduce-fee-structure/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">US</a>, with a third expected by 2024, and also controls the power plants supplying <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/crypto-mining-with-flare-gas-a-green-solution-or-environmental-setback/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">electricity</a>.&nbsp; 
The smallest site, in the southwestern <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/major-bitcoin-mining-pool-foundry-usa-to-introduce-fee-structure/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">US</a>, has a hashing power of 15 petahashes per second and 3.2 MW of generation, while the larger site operates at 50 PH/s with 1.6 MW.&nbsp; 
The third site, the focus of the new <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/liquidstack-secures-funding-to-boost-eco-friendly-bitcoin-mining-in-the-u-s/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">funding</a>, will be identical to the second. High net worth individuals, friends, family, and angel investors such as Clarke Miyasaki and Chris Bennett supported the raise, endorsing an innovative approach to sustainable energy and crypto mining.
