Bitcoin mining giant <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/bitcoin-mining-giant-core-scientific-prepares-for-post-bankruptcy-comeback/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Core Scientific</a> is inching towards bankruptcy exit. They've reached settlement agreements with several infrastructure suppliers. The settlements now await the bankruptcy court’s approval, according to&nbsp; <a href="https://theminermag.com/home/latest/core-scientific-bankruptcy-settlement-claims/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">theminermag</a>. 
Core filed motions on July 14 to approve the agreements with Huband-Mantor Construction, J.W. Didado Electric, Trilogy LLC, and Condair Inc. These firms supplied infrastructure for Core's crypto mining facilities. They submitted proof of claims totalling $80 million after Core's Chapter 11 filings in December. 
Under the proposed settlements, Core will pay $7.2 million in cash and issue promissory notes of $31.4 million. These settlements are meant to extinguish all claims. If the terms are approved, they will save Core a significant 46% on its asserted claims. 
Interestingly, the terms include a <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/bitcoins-rebound-above-30k-boosts-hashprice-a-4-leap-in-24-hours/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">hashprice</a> trigger. If Bitcoin's hashprice exceeds $130/PH/s for 90 consecutive days, Core must prepay 25% of the remaining note principals. 
Core aims for these settlement deals to help its bankruptcy exit and future expansion. The company acknowledges that potential litigation against suppliers could bring larger liabilities and associated expenses. To avoid this, they've chosen to settle. 
Core is particularly dependent on three of these suppliers for their Cottonwood facilities in Texas. This facility is key for Core’s post-emergency expansion, a critical part of regaining its market share in proprietary mining. 
Despite these moves, Core faces stiff competition from <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/marathon-digital-to-boost-energy-efficiency-with-s19-xp-miners/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Marathon</a>, Riot, <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/cleanspark-doubles-down-on-bitcoin-mining-with-55m-expansion/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">CleanSpark</a>, <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/cipher-mining-thrives-eyes-increased-market-share/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Cipher</a>, and Terawulf. This development serves as another reminder of the intense competition in Bitcoin mining.
