Over 15,000 Bitcoin mining devices have been stolen by fraudsters. These criminals posed as representatives of RusHydro, a major Russian power company. The scam involved promising miners to host their equipment at RusHydro facilities, according to <a href="https://www.rbc.ru/crypto/news/649d7d539a794707eb1b2540">RBC</a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
The Russian Association of Cryptocurrencies and Blockchain (RACIB) confirmed the deception. The phony commercial offers matched RusHydro’s branding and were meticulously detailed. Despite RusHydro’s public warnings about this <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/policiya-egipta-arestovala-29-chelovek-iz-za-afery-s-majningom-2/">scam</a>, the fraudsters successfully convinced miners to send them the devices. 
RusHydro has stated it has no affiliation with such offers. The company urges businesses to avoid entering into any economic transactions with the fraudsters. They also advise reporting any such fraudulent actions to law enforcement. 
According to RACIB, more than 15,000 cryptocurrency mining devices were stolen this year alone. They encourage entrepreneurs to thoroughly verify hosting sites before sending any equipment. In case of doubts, the association offers to assist businesses in understanding with whom they are dealing. 
Last year, cryptocurrencies worth $11.5 billion were lost due to similar fraudulent schemes and hacking. As per TRM Labs, despite a downturn in cryptocurrency prices, related crimes have not seen a significant decrease. 
RusHydro continues to battle the rampant spread of false information about mining farm hosting on social media. The company warns businesses to exercise caution while dealing with seemingly lucrative offers.
