Romanian prosecutors have initiated legal proceedings to seize Bitcoin (BTC) worth $565,000 from Andrew Tate, a controversial figure in the internet world. Beyond the 21 BTC, legal authorities have filed for the confiscation of 15 properties, 15 high-end vehicles, and 14 luxury wristwatches. 
The indictment against Tate, along with his brother Tristan and two Romanian women, on severe charges of rape and human trafficking has been announced by the authorities. This indictment comes on the heels of a rigorous six-month-long investigation. 
The indictment <a href="https://www.diicot.ro/mass-media/4082-comunicat-de-presa-2-20-06-2023" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">document</a> highlighted seven alleged victims, who were ensnared under false pretenses. These victims were relocated to facilities located in the Ilfov county of Romania. 
Here, they were subjected to persistent intimidation, strict control, and surveillance. The women were reportedly coerced into performing in pornography by the accused, the content of which was later shared on social media platforms. 
The statement also claims that one of the suspects is charged with raping a woman twice in March 2022. 
Andrew Tate, popularly known for his endorsement of Bitcoin (BTC), has often publicly lauded the original cryptocurrency. 
The timeline for the commencement of Andrew Tate’s trial, as well as the future of the seized Bitcoin, is still uncertain. The trial is not expected to start immediately and is likely to stretch over several years. Presently, the Romanian court requires a 60-day review of the case files before any trial can commence. 
In response to the allegations, the media team of the Tate brothers commented, “While this news is undoubtedly predictable, we embrace the opportunity it presents to demonstrate their innocence and vindicate their reputation.” 
The seized assets, including the Bitcoin (BTC), are expected to remain with the authorities until the conclusion of the trial. Moreover, there are other charges that are still under investigation and could potentially lead to a separate indictment. These additional allegations pertain to the trafficking of minors and money laundering. The Tate brothers were initially arrested at their Bucharest residence in December 2022 and were placed under house arrest in March following a Romanian judge’s decision.
