This year&#39;s cryptocurrency surge is finally helping bitcoin miners. In an analyst report on Monday, Stifel said the first quarter of this year is &#34;shaping up to be a better quarter&#34; than the last. At $0.08 per terahash, hashprice is up 36% from March 12.&#34;This for us is absolute gravy,&#34; CleanSpark Executive Chairman Matthew Schultz told The Block. &#34;If you&#39;re mining 20 bitcoin a day, like we are, the price appreciation in bitcoin is practically additional $200,000 a day in free cash flow.&#34;Bitcoin price increases and electricity price declines are reversing patterns that strained miners&#39; profitability last year and drove some to bankruptcy. Even the worst-hit companies may benefit.&#34;The market has benefited us a lot,&#34; a Core Scientific spokeswoman stated last week. &#34;Power prices have plummeted. Bitcoin miners&#39; main cost is electricity pricing. Professional costs are high, but operations are good.&#34;When economic conditions improve, analysts warn that competition will raise mining difficulties, balancing several aspects. CleanSpark&#39;s Schultz said he&#39;s seen more devices come online, but nothing that exceeds miners&#39; plans.&#34;We haven&#39;t seen a direct impact yet, but we absolutely expect that it might have an impact not just on difficulties and mining economics from that perspective but also on the price of mining equipment coming forward,&#34; Schultz said.Several estimates predict a 5%–6% increase in difficulty this week. The last two increases were 9.95% and 1.16%. &#34;We expect continued growth to the overall network hash rate in the near term as newer gen machine deliveries are installed and brought online,&#34; Stifel wrote. &#34;If the price of BTC goes up a lot in 2023, there will be a lag between before the difficulty rises up to an extent,&#34; the Core Scientific spokeswoman stated. Infrastructure for machines is scarce.From December 2021, ASIC machine sales rose in late January. Luxor, an ASIC trading desk, reports a 9% increase in top efficiency tier prices in the last two months. Luxor COO Ethan Vera said, &#34;We are seeing that play out right now.&#34; Mid-generation machines are more sensitive to mining economics than newer versions.&#34;Companies can deleverage their balance sheets when Bitcoin approaches $30k. Deleveraging reduces distressed assets and ASIC supply &#34;Vera stated. &#34;Miners will hedge revenue and expenditures, reducing leverage. ASIC markets will rise with bitcoin. Unless market machine supply remains &#34;too high,&#34; prices could increase &#34;quite quickly.&#34; &#34;said.Miners have spent months deleveraging and cleaning up their balance sheets. Some borrowed much to buy as many equipment as possible during the last bull market in 2021. According to TheMinerMag, miners sold a lot of their bitcoin in June of last year. Marathon and Hut 8, which have always held on to their production, started selling off a chunk in the previous few of months.Schultz said the debt markets are showing vitality. &#34;They&#39;re typically closed without a sound balance sheet. Hence, only equity or Bitcoin sales provide capital.&#34; In February, CleanSpark stated it will propose increasing the number of authorized shares from 100 million to 300 million to reach its growth target this year.Hive Blockchain and Iris Energy both sold up to $100 million in shares to B. Riley in September. In January, Terawulf raised $32 million in equity and restructured its debt.
