So, some things we share here, might not ever come to fruition, but our goal will be to set clear expectations and communicate with you all about the upcoming roadmap and priorities.</blockquote>After a little break to focus on live AMA delivery, this <a href="https://medium.com/@bloktopia/bloktopia-developer-diaries-1-1827868741ba" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Developer Diary update</a> sees us explore our partnership with The Edit LDN in more detail- looking at how we took our first real-world brand and created them a virtual store in Bloktopia.We announced the partnership with the The Edit LDN on August 4th 2022. We’re really excited as the possibilities for this partnership are endless and the benefits to our community are endless, as the metaverse changes and evolves so does the sneaker world. Bloktopians will be able to purchase a ‘The Edit LDN’ sneaker NFT for their avatar when they buy a physical sneaker for themselves.<h2 id="header-1">The real world — Harrods</h2>Whilst the The Edit LDN is predominantly an online retailer, they do have a physical location through their concession in the London based department store- Harrods.The brief into the Art team was set, we wanted to combine the modern and immersive shopping experience you would receive when entering The Edit LDN store in London, along with introducing the Bloktopia look and feel to the experience.<img src="https://miro.medium.com/max/1400/1*S0tTGl8S408BHzuN4sJvhw.jpeg">(The EditLDN boutique in Harrods department store- London, UK)Good sneaker stores are ultimately about just showing off the sneakers. They are like art galleries where the best sneakers are placed to be really showcased to customers and potential buyers. The store also has a modern and comfortable vibe adding to the customer experience, making it more than just buying a pair of sneakers.These core features of the store in London inspired our development of the Bloktopia store. We really focused on putting the sneakers on a platform to be shown off, along with the advertisement of the latest and most sought after brands that The Edit LDN has to offer.So our artwork team got to work, and taking inspiration from Harrods and The Edit LDN brand colours, whilst also keeping consistency with things like the hexagon design motif used in the KuCoin and Bloktopia interiors - we came up with this hand crafted mock up.<img src="https://miro.medium.com/max/1400/1*vd4tT2sQ4LCHUk6iuGK-3w.png">(Initial blockout for The Edit LDN)<img src="https://miro.medium.com/max/1400/1*mKUexePjebAs1ilk3z2pOQ.png">(Blockout transformed into a colour concept, created in Photoshop)<h2 id="header-2">Transforming artwork to the virtual world</h2>The next step was turning that artwork into a virtual store. This is still a task for our art department, who take the initial mock up and begin to create 3D assets to add into Unity.The store interior is very small so when we began work in Unity we had to adjust things, for example we opted for smaller couches. Here is the first untextured view of the HQ in our gaming engine Unity.<img src="https://miro.medium.com/max/1400/1*flD56g_kOmDABIw5t9PWkA.png">(Untextured version of the store in Unity)Unity allows us to move around the store, and think about how it will work in a more functional manner. The aim was for users to get to feel like they get that luxury experience and art gallery viewing feel when coming to purchase NFT digital wearables. So the next step was texturing and refinement to bring that luxury feel and get us to the final version.
