After passing landmark legislation that provides the legal framework for a Bitcoin-backed bond, also known as a Volcano Bond, El Salvador will be able to raise capital to pay down its sovereign debt, fund the construction of Bitcoin City, and create Bitcoin mining infrastructure. The term &#34;volcano&#34; in the bond&#39;s name refers to the location of the country&#39;s Bitcoin City, which is planned to be a renewable crypto-mining hub powered by hydrothermal energy from the nearby Conchagua volcano.
