<h2 id="header-0">What’s happening around in the NFT world?</h2><ul><li>TPCI sues an Australian company over advertising unlicensed NFT-based Pokémon game</li></ul>The company behind the Pokemon franchise, The&nbsp;Pokemon Company International (TPCI), is suing Pokemon Pty Ltd for promoting a new NFT-based Pokemon mobile game. The TPCI has requested the court to issue an order prohibiting Pokemon Pty Ltd from using its trademarks on the website and social media.As a result, the TPCI won federal court orders on December 21 prohibiting the Australian company from using Pokemon characters from video games, movies, and television in their software. The court claims that TPCI has a strong case and requests additional information before discussing costs or damages. Further legal action may be taken if Pokemon Pty Ltd does not respond.<ul><li>HSBC has filed for a host of NFT and Metaverse trademarks</li></ul>HSBC, a global universal bank and financial services holding corporation headquartered in the United Kingdom, is venturing into the NFT and <a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/crypto-currency-news/metaverse-interactions-may-influence-real-world-travel-choices-in-2023-survey" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Metaverse sector</a> by filing trademark applications for its name and logo.As per the filings, the company intends to offer its virtual debit and credit card services in the metaverse. The HSBC also lists a wide range of products and services, including NFT virtual goods and files that can be downloaded.Not only HSBC, but several other banking behemoths also started venturing into the metaverse and blockchain sectors.<ul><li>Beeple talks about NFT's Future</li></ul>Michael Joseph Winkelmann, a popular digital/NFT artist aka Beeple, recently talked about the future of NFT. Beeple asserted that in the future, all real-world arts will undoubtedly be affiliated with NFTs.Beeple further noted that NFT will modernize the definition of art in the times to come. He said the NFTs will help the industry in identifying the authenticity of the real-world arts.As a result, Beeple believes that NFTs will eventually contribute to the creation of a streamlined art database on which "everyone relies."<ul><li>Blockchain security firm SlowMist’s NFT report</li></ul>On December 24, the blockchain security firm SlowMist published a report outlining the methods used by North Korean APT groups to isolate NFT investors from their NFTs.The report reveals that hackers linked to North Korea's Lazarus Group are using nearly 500 phishing domains in a massive phishing campaign targeting investors in non-fungible tokens (NFT).In 2022, North Korea has been at the center of numerous cryptocurrency theft crimes. A recent report published by South Korea's National Intelligence Service (NIS) also revealed that North Korea stole $620 million in cryptocurrencies this year alone.<ul><li>Cumberland sees NFTs becoming more intertwined with brand IP</li></ul>Steven Goulden, a senior research analyst at crypto trading firm Cumberland, anticipates that the adoption of <a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/crypto-blogs-details/cryptocurrency-important-web-three-platforms" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Web3 platforms</a> that provide practical applications will begin to gain traction in 2023.
