We Carvers, a group of game enthusiasts and connoisseurs, love exploring and sharing incredible games. But with so many games out there, it’s practically impossible for one to try them all. In comes Carv’s Game Discovery.
Today we are presenting to you games that have embraced the green carbon ecosystem, Avalanche, an EVM with sub-second time to finality.

Top games in the Avalanche Ecosystem
<h2 id="header-0">1. Castle Crush</h2>
CARV community’s Take: A strategy card collecting game with an innovative progression mechanism design. The game is well crafted with graphics and enjoyable gameplay. A solid game for gamers who want to be intellectually challenged.
Castle Crush has been around for a couple of years already. It resembles Clash Royale in many ways but also has its unique twists. One hint, there are three lanes instead of two. The gameplay is quite straightforward, where players acquire cards from boxes that can be obtained by competing in matches. Cards can be upgraded once they stake to a certain number, and the upgrade exponentially increases the cards’ potency. Of course, in order to win the game, upgrading is barely enough, players must be meticulous about their card combination, sequence, and lane picking.
<img src="https://miro.medium.com/max/1400/0*TXne2TRfWiNFFZJY">
The in-game economy is where the game stands out. Opening loot boxes are not the only way players will be able to acquire cards, once a card is upgraded to a certain level, it can be traded in the marketplace. In fact, opened founder chests can be sold in the marketplace as well. Aside from purchasing and owning cards, players can also rent cards with $ACS through renting platform. And playing using rental cards gives your ac points, which can be used to get cards.
<img src="https://miro.medium.com/max/1282/0*I7KTFLZBMn5zgDdg">
Overall, Castle Crush is an excellent game. It achieved its 40M+ downloads not by its P2E feature, but with the fundamentals, fun to play. Blockchain technology certainly adds an extra layer of flavor to it.
<h2 id="header-1">2. Shrapnel</h2>
CARV community’s Take: AAA FPS game built by BAFTA and Emmy award-winning developers. Shrapnel’s storyline is set in a post-catastrophic world in the near future. And its gameplay design with intense competition and unique reputation system is also intriguing
Shrapnel is developed by Neon, a BAFTA and Emmy award-winning studio full of game industry veterans. The story happens in the world where the Moon was hit by an asteroid that caused meteorites to bombard a 500-kilometer-wide band around the Earth. That band area, known as The Zone, attracts hundreds and thousands of Mercenary Extraction Forces (MEF) operators from different organizations and nations to uncover the alien materials that enhance quantum mechanics and many other secrets.
<img src="https://miro.medium.com/max/1400/0*JnBWu9s182CxWydy">
As far as the gameplay goes, players are taking on missions for their MEF to find and extract those invaluable resources in The Zone while vying against each other. Players have to complete the mission (collect the loot) and fight their way back to the extraction point, surviving long enough to escape before finally claiming the loot (turned into NFTs). Gears (NFTs) will be dropped upon death. All this mechanism makes it an intense, competitive, and high-risk but also high-reward venture. Such design of gameplay encourages the formation of strategy making and alliance forming.
<img src="https://miro.medium.com/max/1400/0*UPS5WiFP8Xe_QBdj">
Shrapnel also tries to accommodate players with different objectives in the game. Those who don’t want to put high stakes on their gears, can opt to use contract operators for low-risk and low-return reward dynamics but still be able to enjoy the game. And each session varies from 15 minutes up to 45 minutes, to fit all players with different entertainment needs and time constraints.
Guild or enterprising players are enabled to set their own rules and terms, make their own tournaments, and promote them in the game. Curators and creators are also welcomed in the community. Any creative design of vanity assets or maps can be minted into NFTs and listed in the marketplace. An innovative reputation system has been built around all these in-game stakeholders –players, creators, and communities as well. All positive interactions are rewarded in a variety of ways while negative behaviors are policed and punished.

<h2 id="header-2">3. Ascenders</h2>
CARV community’s Take: A mix of sci-fi and fantasy, a combination of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s open world with an Eve: Online’s MMO economy, a blend of future tech elements and ancient oriental combat gameplay, Ascenders is built to AAA standards with the implementation of NFT interoperability.
Players can freely explore the overworld to discover new lands/terrain, hidden dungeons, and rare resources. Each terrain has its unique culture, challenges, dungeon quests, resources drop as well as gameplay. Some of them look familiar, the others are exotic. New terrains are added over time and new stories and challenges arise as the world events flow rapidly.
<img src="https://miro.medium.com/max/1400/0*lxZ5c1ij5oIIHybr">
Play-to-earn is meant to empower and engage players, Ascenders allows players with different skills and interests to participate in the virtual economy. You can fight competitively with a jaw-dropping oriental martial combat fight style to clear our dungeons and seek rare drops. You can explore the fascinating open world to look for unique quests and scarce resources. Or you can build on the lands you own with factories, craft shops, facilities, and guild communities to run your own mini-economy in the metaverse.
<img src="https://miro.medium.com/max/1400/0*Xi1ae9rRwODN_cn3">
And the broad variety of economies is supported by its tokens and NFTs.
<ul>
 <li>Glow Gems: the utility token/in-game currency for economic actions. It is used to craft and upgrade NFTs, and trade them in the marketplace.</li>
 <li>Ascenders Governance Council ($AGC): the governance token for votes on important game direction decisions. The token is required when players want NFTs with unique attributes. The token cannot be earned in-game, and it has a total supply of 1 billion.</li>
 <li>Land Parcel: Land NFT each with its unique layout, terrain, and resources. Owners will generate passive income in form of in-game resources</li>
 <li>Item NFTs: Minted when players craft resources into items. These NFTs can be upgraded and traded on marketplaces.</li>
</ul>
Last but not least, one thing that makes the game one of a kind is the implementation of NFT interoperability. What does that mean? Ascenders players can mint their Ascenders hero NFTs with external NFTs. The minted hero not only retain the name of the original NFT but also inherits the value, rarity, and traits of that NFT. This a pioneering move that we believe will be followed by crypto/ Web 3 games in the coming years.

<h2 id="header-3">4. Step.app</h2>
CARV community’s Take: A move-to-earn App with immersive and competitive experiences, as well as catering to the needs for fitness from the general public. Step App is creating a metaverse for the fitness economy with a mission to create a healthier and wealthier lifestyle for the global community. And by early sign-up campaigns, users are allowed to get free SNEAK NFTs.
Step is a development protocol for FitFi(Fitness Finance), a niche market in the crypto world in which participants can earn by generating value through fitness and health-related activities. It aims to be the bridge between the physical and the digital world.
<img src="https://miro.medium.com/max/1000/0*WmRd_CRSex5hNlpo">
The first App on the Step Protocol is the namesake Step.app. It is built by the core team of the Step protocol. There have been a number of FitFi projects scattered across Web 3, most of which are built on their native systems. This thwarts the adoption and scale of FitFi and causes a high cost per unit. Thus, Step App is addressing the FitFi market’s biggest bottleneck and cost efficiency from the very beginning. The Step Protocol SDK is available to all third parties who want to build within the Step Metaverse.
Although the App hasn’t been launched yet, users can now stake their $FITFI tokens to earn Drop Tickets and loot boxes. The probability of a loot box giving a SNEAK is 35%. And it is the first of its kind perpetual staking contract in FitFi industry — granting access to anything upcoming later with a one-time stake.

<h2 id="header-4">5. Heroes Chained</h2>
CARV community’s Take: ‘Last Hope’, the city where all remaining races gathered to fight their last stand against the Dark Lord Oblivion, who, with his eternal champions, ravaged Ventuna, the fantasy world and home to many. Players start their journey as a guild rather than a single hero and adventure in a caravan in the wildness of oblivion or compete against other guilds in the city.
Heroes Chained is a fantasy action RPG card game where players own a ‘Guild’ and gather heroes. The game offers freedom to players to play with different heroes and hero classes, races, genes, and spells. This diversity creates unlimited possibilities in the game. Also, the game has a variety of different locations, dungeons, treasures, monsters, and creatures for players to explore.
<img src="https://miro.medium.com/max/1400/0*arCYtOaE1qXvH42T">
In a PvE-oriented game mode, players can send their heroes beyond the city walls to explore the wildness of Ventuna that’s under the influence of Oblivion, and encounter dungeons, patrolling enemies, and camps.
Players can uncover nodes by defeating the enemies and use them to claim lands that will generate resources to build their guilds. They will also be able to loot artifacts if they complete dungeons and other missions.
Players can also take on each other in the city, by competing with each other through a series of leagues and tournaments in the PvP mode, to rise to the ultimate guild of Last Hope.
<img src="https://miro.medium.com/max/1400/0*iV94tK4IuG5dWZTz">
NFT items have many forms, such as heroes, skills, spell cards, items, lands, artworks, and masterpieces. All NFT assets can be traded freely in-game or in third-party open markets.
