Celebrate the one-year anniversary of WOO X with us by learning and earning your share of $10,000 in NEAR!

The future of on-chain trading is NEAR

From providing infinite scalability to solving cross-compatibility, our friends at NEAR are striving to affect real, long-lasting change for cryptocurrency as a whole. Even better, our love of puns and their choice of name is a match made in heaven. Sharing their vision, and wanting to play our part in spearheading this mission, we have worked side-by-side to lay down the foundations of a new standard in DeFi trading- a standard that is far from standard. From being able to trade NEAR with zero fees, to the birth of a DEX that takes things to a whole new gear for professional traders, this article explains how it all came to be.

*Read till the end to find the learn and earn campaign, where you can answer 3 questions and have the chance to be one of 10 winners of $1000 in NEAR.*

High speeds meet zero fees 🤝

It would be remiss of a centralized exchange with zero fees not to list a network with superior speeds, which is why WOO X became home to NEAR in June of last year. This was truly a special day that would in hindsight pave the way for a long-lasting friendship and many future collaborations. Perhaps articulated best by our design team, WOO X traders would never be far from NEAR again. Maybe not our smartest listing slogan, but we didn’t want to steal the listing’s limelight.

Christmas comes early 🎄

December then became a month to remember as we completed a whopping $5M token swap with NEAR to cement our strategic alliance. With both parties recognizing the seemingly limitless possibilities of combining our institutional-grade liquidity with NEAR’s scalability, it was a no-brainer. In this marriage of smart liquidity and scalable infrastructure, and a lack of contraceptives, it was only a matter of time until new developments would be born.

Liquidity comes to life 🌊

In April of this year, deep liquidity was non-negotiable for NEAR, and WOO Network was proud to provide it via a partnership with NEAR’s first major dApp — Ref Finance. This collaboration saw the birth of NEAR’s very first WOO-NEAR liquidity pool, allowing Wooriors to both swap and earn WOO on NEAR for the very first time.

Orderly comes online 💻

Innovation breeds innovation, and nowhere is this more true than Orderly Network — a decentralized and permissionless order book exchange protocol incubated by WOO and NEAR in May of 2022 bringing high throughput, low latency, low fees, and tight spreads to DeFi builders. That’s certainly a mouthful, but we all know that more buzzwords = more bullish. By leveraging NEAR and WOO’s combined expertise, and using Kronos Research to bootstrap initial liquidity, a unique vision to bridge CeFi-level trading infrastructure into DeFi was realized.

The brainchild is born 👶

It was Orderly that would eventually serve as the foundation layer for WOOFi DEX — a game-changing DEX built on NEAR that looks and feels like a centralized exchange but operates on-chain, enabling traders to keep complete custody of their assets. Featuring a visible order book, customizable UI, order entries, and eventually perps, WOOFi DEX will forever be known as the ultimate brainchild of WOO and NEAR’s (strictly platonic) relationship.
