The Get Set Play platform will entirely be built on Polygon. Polygon, formerly Matic network, is an innovative protocol and a framework for building that merges the best things from the Ethereum blockchain and sovereign blockchains into a full-fledged multi-chain system. Polygon is one of the most renowned digital blockchain platforms available to users. The platform is responsible for providing digital assets and economies. It provides a network that offers interoperability between previous and present infrastructure scenarios of Ethereum. Due to this, it offers great functionality and the fastest transaction speed of almost 65,000 transactions per second.With Polygon, you can get a consensus based on PoS or Proof of Stake. If a user takes on the Polygon network, they can earn rewards in the form of Matic taken. Since it offers a combination of technologies, the consensus can be achieved faster.In a nutshell, Polygon bills itself as a layer-2 network, meaning it acts as an add-on layer to Ethereum that does not seek to change the original blockchain layer. Like its geometric namesake, Polygon has many sides, shapes, and uses and promises a simpler framework for building interconnected networks.Transaction CostIn terms of gas fees, polygon wins again. The network provides developers and users with some of the lowest fees of any programmable network. Users pay minuscule fees for minting new assets and creating blockchains.For every blockchain transaction, there’s a fee to be paid for the transaction to go through. The money being paid is then sent to miners who use the computing power of their systems to validate the transaction and store the information in the public ledger.The standard gas fee of Polygon is extremely cheap, being less than US$0.01 per transaction. Ethereum, on the other hand, has a standard gas fee that usually starts at US$25, and that value is constantly changing and going up depending on the network congestion.Faster Transaction FinalityTransaction finality refers to the point of the transaction where it has become non-reversible. While Ethereum already has an impressive transaction finality speed that can finish six transactions in one minute, Polygon, being a layer 2 built to avoid network congestion, has an even faster transaction finality of 2.3 seconds per transaction.ArchitectureThe Polygon Network is broadly divided into three layers:Ethereum layer — Staking and Plasma smart contracts on EthereumTo enable the Proof of Stake (PoS) mechanism on Polygon, the system employs a set of staking management contracts on the Ethereum mainnet.The staking contracts implement the following features:· The ability for anyone to stake MATIC tokens on the staking contracts on the Ethereum mainnet and join the system as a validator.· Earn staking rewards for validating state transitions on the Polygon Network.· Enable penalties/slashing for activities such as double signing, validator downtime, etc.· Save checkpoints on the Ethereum mainnet.Heimdall layer — a set of proof-of-stake Heimdall nodes running in parallel to the Ethereum mainnet, monitoring the set of staking contracts deployed on the Ethereum mainnet, and committing the Polygon Network checkpoints to the Ethereum mainnet. Heimdall is based on Tendermint.Heimdall (validation layer)Heimdall layer handles the aggregation of blocks produced by Bor into a Merkle tree and publishing the Merkle root periodically to the root chain. The periodic publishing of snapshots of the Bor sidechain are called checkpoints.For every few blocks on Bor, a validator on the Heimdall layer:1. Validates all the blocks since the last checkpoint.2. Creates a Merkle tree of the block hashes.3. Publishes the Merkle root hash to the Ethereum mainnet.Checkpoints are important for two reasons:1. Providing finality on the root chain.2. Providing proof of burn-in withdrawal of assets.An overview of the process:· A subset of active validators from the pool is selected to act as block producers for a span. These block producers are responsible for creating blocks and broadcasting the created blocks on the network.· A checkpoint includes the Merkle root hash of all blocks created during any given interval. All nodes validate the Merkle root hash and attach their signature to it.· A selected proposer from the validator set is responsible for collecting all signatures for a particular checkpoint and committing the checkpoint on the Ethereum mainnet.· The responsibility of creating blocks and proposing checkpoints is variably dependent on a validator’s stake ratio in the overall pool.Bor (block producer layer)Bor is Polygon’s sidechain block producer — the entity responsible for aggregating transactions into blocks.Bor block producers are a subset of the validators and are shuffled periodically by the Heimdall validators.In conclusion, keeping the scalability, security, and efficiency of Polygon in mind, Get Set Play will be moving forward with polygon for its platform to make the user’s experience smooth and effortless.Need more details?
