The fund transfer is most likely tied to the late-October BXH Exchange incident, in which hackers stole approximately 4,000 ETH worth $139 million.CertiK, a Telegram group created by individuals impacted by the BXH Exchange, previously revealed the staking contract that holds the funds and addresses.The address then swapped bridging <a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/crypto-dictionary/erc-20" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">ERC-20 tokens</a> for ETH. As a result, 1865 ETH tokens worth more than $2.4 million have been transferred into Tornado Cash.Despite penalties imposed by the US Treasury's Office of Foreign Asset Control in August, suspicious fund transfers on Tornado Cash are still active. An EOA 0x0B789 has sent 500K DAI to the crypto mixer platform. The funds were transferred in connection with a DAO Maker exploit.GitHub Reinstates Tornado Cash in Read-Only ModeFollowing clarification from the US Treasury's Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC), GitHub reinstated the Tornado Cash code in "read-only" mode.After widespread criticism from the crypto community, the US Office of Foreign Asset Control revised the FAQ section. It adds that the penalties imposed do not prevent Americans from reading, debating, teaching, or distributing Tornado Cash's code.
