<h2 id="header-0">Bitcoin and Ethereum fall below $19,000 and $1,300 as the Fed raises the interest rate to a 15-year high indicating how strong inflationary pressures have become in the U.S.</h2>
Cryptocurrencies erased losses incurred by another major Federal Reserve interest-rate rise, but sentiment remained cautious in view of the central bank's warning of economic damage from tightening policies.
Markets are shaking at the Fed's resolve to fight inflation by tightening financial conditions. Shorter-term Treasury yields rose more than longer-term rates, widening a bond curve inversion considered as a signal of oncoming recession. As investors sought a safe haven, the dollar index reached a new high.
"Markets are expected to test lower lows and remain weak until inflation data improve if the Fed continues hawkish." Bitcoin (BTC) fluctuated in the hours after the announcement before falling with US markets later in the afternoon. Bitcoin was trading for slightly under $19,000 at the time of writing. The largest cryptocurrency was trading above $22,000 as recently as last week.

Less than an hour later, the top cryptocurrency had retraced nearly the whole gain, but it is currently trying to hold its head above the $18,500 support level. Not only Bitcoin, but any currency that trades against the US dollar, moved in a similar way.
Bitcoin began a new drop from the $20,000 barrier level against the US dollar. BTC is in risk of falling sharply below the $18,500 and $18,000 levels. Bitcoin's price attempted to rise beyond the $19,200 level. However, BTC failed to break over the $20,000 resistance zone, continuing in a bearish zone.
As a result, a bearish reaction occurred below the $19,000 level. The Fed's rate rise from 2.75% to 3.25% led to a significant drop. On the hourly chart of the BTC/USD pair, there was a breach below a significant bullish trend line with support at $19,000.
Bitcoin is currently trading below the $19,200 level and the 100 hourly simple moving average. The $18,200 level was retested, and the price fell as low as $18,153. It has already begun to recover losses above the $18,200 support level.

The 24-hour trading volume for the coin is around $49,288,589,738. BTC market capitalization has fallen by 1.77%. However, trade volume increased by 42.61% during intraday trading. The market capitalization to volume ratio is 0.1377.
There was a move above the 23.6% Fib retracement level of the current decline from the swing high of $19,950 to the low of $18,153. On the upside, an immediate resistance level is near $18,800. The next major hurdle is placed near $19,000. The 50% Fib retracement level of the current decline from the swing high of $19,950 to the low of $18,153 is also near the $19,000 level. The main resistance is currently forming at the $19,200 area and the 100 hourly simple moving average.
A close above $19,200 would increase the probability of a move towards $19,650. Any further advances might push the price up to the $20,000 barrier level. If bitcoin does not recover over $19,000, it may continue to fall. On the downside, there is immediate support at $18,200. Around $18,000 is the next significant level of support. A clear break below the $18,000 level could set the door for a further fall. In the mentioned situation, the price may even reach $17,000.
