We recently had an <a href="https://youtu.be/lvuszXmWVIo" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">AMA session with the people behind BaliTwin</a>, which has joined the Everscale ecosystem. The team responsible for this very ambitious and promising project, which is backed by the Indonesian government, shared the main details of the project with us:

<h2 id="header-0">What is BaliTwin?</h2>
BaliTwin is a large-scale decentralized video game — a platform in a futuristic setting based on the Everscale blockchain and inspired by Bali’s cultural heritage. This first-of-its-kind project combines a story-driven MMORPG and an NFT marketplace, which will be bound to real-world territories. Along with the usual gamified achievements, the metaverse will thus present real estate from actual Bali landowners, who help the island to progress, erasing the boundary between the real and virtual worlds in the process.
<h2 id="header-1">The four vectors of BaliTwin’s development</h2>
This is a fairly ambitious and exciting project, and a very complicated one, which is developing in several directions at once.
First of all, it is a story-driven MMORPG in the open world of the Bali of the future. This future is a utopian one in which society is flourishing and enjoying a beautiful world full of technological innovation, as well as living in harmony with nature. It will be an incredible interactive movie within a game, with multiple plot variations and multiple endings in terms of its storytelling.
In addition, the team is setting up an NFT marketplace for creators, architects, and real estate agents. <h2 id="header-2">Cooperation with the Indonesian government</h2>
Also, one of BaliTwin’s goals is to improve the financial and investment climate on the island in cooperation with the Indonesian government. This is achieved by giving indigenous people the opportunity to earn money. The use of new technologies and this project as a platform will allow art owners to make money by selling their goods not only in the physical world, but also in the metaverse. The team is also creating a kind of online service or even registry of all existing land and real estate in Bali, which will be integrated into the BaliTwin metaverse.

Moreover, right now, the guys are also creating an educational platform with 3D libraries of the island’s cultural-historical objects, which have become symbols of the rich folklore, unique religion, and exceptional culture of Bali. Sadly, these are slowly disappearing as a result of globalization. As part of this mission, the team is collaborating with cultural universities in Denpasar in order to obtain authentic information about the culture, art and everything else related to Bali. In addition, right now, the team is digitizing real landscapes and works of art, such as masks, which they have already digitized and placed in their metaverse as an asset. The guys are thus trying to scan all these assets all over the island to save its heritage for future generations, to educate people all over the world and to share this beautiful culture with others.
Therefore, selling land or game items goes hand in hand with improving the local environment. Because the team uses its funding to scan the island and its ancient relics, the funds go toward supporting the local Indonesian community with salaries and providing them with the technology for scanning.
<h2 id="header-3">What technology is behind the BaliTwin project?</h2>
Now a few words about the technology. This is a full-fledged MMORPG created using Unreal Engine 5 with p2e and NFT mechanics, which is based on cutting-edge cloud technology. The team renders everything on Amazon servers and the end user gets a video that can be used on any device, smartphone, or iPad. This allows you to explore the huge open world and buy and sell land, real estate, and even art using in-game tokens.
For its digitization, the team uses a type of technology called photogrammetry. With this technology, it is possible to achieve maximum digitization quality and provide players with a high-end gaming experience. In so doing, the team has ended up with digital versions of many art objects, statues, temples, and ancient caves covering a huge area. Most of these items will be available to purchase in the NFT marketplace and can then be placed in your home area inside the game. As for gods, they will of course be represented in the game, but as non-playable characters.
In addition to NFT assets, the game will have a storyline based on Bali’s culture. Each player will be able to use a personalized character, like an avatar, and enjoy next-generation photorealistic graphics from any computer or smartphone.
For Everscale, this is an opportunity to demonstrate the speed and security of its blockchain. Also, thanks to the blockchain’s uniqueness, players will be able to enjoy the game exactly as it is intended, which will certainly encourage more users to get to know and join the ecosystem.
