BLOCKS carries the term “metaverse-as-a-service”? What’s that? Read the AMA recap below to find out.
SEGMENT 1: INTRODUCTION QUESTIONS
Question 1: Before we talk further. Please introduce yourself and your project. What is BLOCKS? What are you guys trying to accomplish?
<blockquote>Mr. Juan: BLOCKS can be best described as a “metaverse-as-a-service” (MaaS) platformWe give NFT communities the tools they need to make custom Metaverse environments for their usersWe provide tools for NFT creators to create pocket environments that adds utility to existing collections, drives engagement in communities, and creates additional revenue streams via land sales.Some of our initial list of launch partners includes Meebits, Nouns, CrypToadz and others.We will also support cross-platform and cross-chain interoperability, including bridging NFT utility between Ethereum, Solana, Palm and Polygon.

Question 2: My next question. How big is the market? Who are the other players in the market?
<blockquote>Mr. Juan: It’s hard to measure exactly how big the “Metaverse” is, but most experts currently estimate it to be ~$30B in market size and growingSome of the larger players today include Sandbox, Decentraland, and Cryptovoxels, with others on the wayWhile these players are focused on major world building, we are taking a more focused approach and providing our partners with the tools to build their own “hyper local” Metaverse environmentsSo we don’t see ourselves as competing against Sandbox, we see our platform as very complementary to Sandbox and othersBig brands will have a presence on Sandbox because of the visibility there, but when they want to provide their audience with a deeper, more engaging personalized experience they will hyperlink from Sandbox to BLOCKSYes, here is our most recent environment roll-out that we are doing for the Nouns DAO community: <a href="https://beta.joinblocks.com/blocks/nouns" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">https://beta.joinblocks.com/blocks/nouns</a>

Question 3: What’s the pain point you’re trying to solve?
<blockquote>Mr. Juan: The problem we’re solving is that NFT creators must constantly work on adding value to their collections and communities in order to remain relevant in a hyper competitive market… hodlers get distracted easily by the new shiny NFT projects that launch every dayOne of the most common requests by the community is to add Metaverse utility, but the current Metaverse land “scarcity” model (e.g. Sandbox and DCL) prices out a lot of NFT communities from building on current platformsAs mentioned, BLOCKS provides a fully functional (live today) turnkey solution to roll out a custom Metaverse just for your communitywith the added benefit of being able to capture new revenue in the form of primary and secondary market fees on any land NFT salesInstead of being a cost center, BLOCKS actually becomes a way that projects replenish their treasury — all while engaging and retaining their core community (and growing it too)

Question 4: Do you need to download anything to play BLOCKS?
<blockquote>Mr. Juan: Nope, all you need is a browser, you don’t even need a wallet to start! We try to make it very easy to onboard new users onto the platform.The base BLOCKS platform is custom built on top of WebGL technology, an open source web standard that is compatible across all major browsers on desktop AND mobileSo you don’t need to download a desktop app or mobile app, all you need is your browser, and it works on mobile tooYou’ll need to connect a wallet if you want to personalize your experience (e.g. changing your avatar in the game), but you can get started without one at firstit also works with Metamask Mobile if you’re on your phone

Question 5: Does it cost anything to get started in BLOCKS?
<blockquote>Mr. Juan: Great question, and always an important oneBLOCKS does not cost anything to get startedAll you need is a browser — it’s free to explore and playWhen you want to start customizing your experience and earning points on the platform, it is still free to do soOnce you connect your wallet, you can then perform daily check-ins and other challenges which earn you points — points that can be taken off the platform as tokens!This P2E mechanism is designed to be accessible to everyone… because we believe that the Metaverse should be available to ALL, not just those that can afford expensive NFTs

Question 1: Can you tell us about your team members? are they qualified and professional in their fields? What are the recruiting qualifications for team members for your extraordinary project?
<blockquote>Mr. Juan: Our exec team has deep experience in blockchain, media &amp; entertainment and gaming industry experience, having worked at Openfinance, Fox/Disney, Viacom/Paramount, Cartoon Network, Konami and Bad Robot ProductionsFor example, our CPO Sam Ellis worked on the show Archer on FX and Adventure Time on Cartoon NetworkMy background: I am a tech entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in fintech, alt assets and exchange technologyI’ve been in the blockchain industry since 2016, and launched the first live, regulated security token exchange in the United States as the Founder and CEO at OpenFinance (sold to INX Digital in 2020)

Question 2: Are there any strategic partners that you can share? Most investors look for projects with great partners. The more reputable and well-known partners, the more confident they will be to invest in your project.
<blockquote>Mr. Juan: I also see a lot of questions over who our investors are, so I will answer that nextWe are backed by top tier VC firms including Fenbushi Capital, Kenetic Capital, A195 Capital, gumi Crypto, Cryptology Asset Group, YGG, Polygon Studios and othersThey have given us a lot of support, but now we are focusing on communities and partnerships with groups like Kommunitas who can help to connect us with communities that are active in web3 and Metaverse

Question 3: What are the stages of product development, achievements and plans for the near future??
<blockquote>Mr. Juan: We’re in the middle of our integration with the Nouns DAO community at the momentFor them, we ended up forking the Nouns DAO smart contract and creating an environment called NounsTownIn NounsTown, the parcels of land in that environment are auctioned off every day, just like with the main Nouns NFTsYou can learn more about NounsTown here: http://nounstown.wtf/Every day, we auction off 4 parcels of land, this just launched a couple of weeks ago so you can see we are on parcel #62 at the moment, but that is an exciting partnership we have with the Nouns communityWe are also working on cross-chain interoperability as I have mentioned — working with Polygon, Palm, Avalanche, Solana and others to allow for NFTs from those chains to be used on BLOCKSso that you can use your NFTs with each other, no matter what chain they’re from

Question 4: Did you consider community feedback/requests during the creation of your product in order to expand on fresh ideas for your project? Many projects fail because the target audience and clients are not understood. So I’d like to know who your ideal consumer is for your product?
<blockquote>Mr. Juan: Great questionThe NounsTown project is a great example of listening to community feedbackInitially, we were planning on doing small batch of land sales with Nouns, but their community gave us very strong feedback that we should instead distribute land in a very “Nounish” wayThis is why we ended up forking their contract and changing our land distribution strategy for that communitywith another partner, we are planning on doing “air drops” of land to their community, since they don’t want to “sell” to their users, they just want to give them the benefit of Metaverse landso we try to work with our partners and be flexible to how they want to distribute land to their community
