<p>An <a href="https://cryptonewsland.com/wazirx-cryptocurrency-exchange-loses-235m-in-lazarus-group-linked-hack/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">investigation by ZachXBT</a> has linked convicted UK hacker Gurv (Gurvinder Bhangu) to recent high-profile cybercrimes, including the theft of over $530,000 through Solana meme coin scams. Gurv’s criminal activities began with SIM swapping incidents involving celebrities Sydney Sweeney and Bob Odenkirk.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-sim-swap-scams-and-financial-gains">SIM Swap Scams and Financial Gains</h2>   
<p>On July 2nd, Sydney Sweeney’s X account was compromised through a <a href="https://www.verizon.com/about/account-security/sim-swapping" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">SIM swap scam</a>. The hacker posted a link to a Solana meme coin, causing its price to spike and then crash.&nbsp;</p>   
<p>The team behind this scam sold $515,000 worth of the meme coin. After the theft, the hacker taunted on social media and falsely claimed credit for other incidents involving Hulk Hogan and 50 Cent.&nbsp;</p>   
<p>Timing analysis of the stolen funds shows that they were moved to a Solana exchange before being converted into <a href="https://cryptonewsland.com/bitcoin-and-ethereum-take-a-dip-amidst-broad-crypto-market-bleed/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Bitcoin and Ethereum</a>. Screenshots emerged showing Gurv receiving login codes to Sweeney’s account via SIM swap.&nbsp;</p>   
<p>Gurv, previously convicted in the UK for hacking Instagram accounts and blackmail, had dismissively told law enforcement that his actions were not criminal. The Telegram messages and user IDs linked to Gurv corroborate his involvement.</p>   
<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-potential-connection-to-bob-odenkirk-s-hack">Potential Connection to Bob Odenkirk’s Hack</h2>   
<p>On July 9th, <a href="https://twitter.com/mrbobodenkirk?lang=en" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">Bob Odenkirk’s X account</a> was also hacked in a similar manner. A link to a meme coin was posted, but this time the hackers launched two coins, KIRK and SAUL, resulting in only a modest profit.&nbsp;</p>   
<p>Proceeds from this hack were sent to the same Ethereum address used in the Sydney Sweeney incident, which was then linked to Solana.</p>   
<p>Currently, the wallets connected to these hacks hold $488,000. Some of these funds have been spent on crypto casinos and gift cards.&nbsp;</p>
