 Starknet said that STRK, the native token of the Ethereum layer-2 blockchain, will be airdropped to around 1.3 million eligible wallets on Feb. 20.
 The long awaited arrival of the STRK token will be used to fuel “community participation and project governance,” the Starknet Foundation said in a press release.
 The 782 million-token airdrop will be sent to Starknet users, developers, and contributors to the ecosystem. Contributors include Ethereum builders and stakers, as well as non-Web3 open-source developers. Users have until June 20 to claim the airdrop.

 <h2 id="span-style-font-weight-400-the-strk-airdrop-has-an-unusual-characteristic-span">The STRK Airdrop Has An Unusual Characteristic</h2>
 An unusual characteristic of the STRK airdrop is that groups outside of the immediate Starknet ecosystem, such as Ethereum solo-stakers and liquid staking token users, are eligible. 
 The foundation attributes their eligibility to the fact that Starknet is secured by Ethereum. The airdrop is also the first event of its kind that non-Web3 users can qualify for. The foundation said that the reason behind this is “to set a new precedent in inclusivity.”
 Members of the crypto community who miss out on this airdrop will have another opportunity soon, as the foundation also mentioned that “there will be further provisions in the future.”
 “Provisions celebrates our community’s hard work in showing how we can and should scale Ethereum for mass adoption,” said the CEO of Starknet Foundation, Diego Olivia, in the press release.
