Jones Digital LLC, a prominent digital asset mining firm, has recently emerged victorious in a legal battle against <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/arkansas-counties-battle-noise-pollution-amid-upcoming-crypto-regulations/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Arkansas</a> County's noise ordinance. The <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/senator-lummis-pushes-for-crypto-regulation-amid-sec-lawsuits/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">U.S.</a> District Judge, Lee P. Rudofsky, sided with Jones Digital, granting them a preliminary injunction against the ordinance passed on October 10, which imposed discriminatory noise limits on the company, according to <a href="https://www.arkansasbusiness.com/article/146941/dewitt-bitcoin-mine-gets-court-victory-as-judge-strikes-noise-ordinance" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">arkansasbusiness</a>.
This ruling comes in light of Act 851 of 2023, which prohibits discrimination against <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/crypto-miners-shift-gears-ai-is-the-new-gold-rush/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">data centers</a> and <a href="https://ultramining.com/news/en/russias-bitcoin-gold-rush-mining-machine-influx-outpaces-rest-of-the-world/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">bitcoin miners</a>. Despite community protests, the Act has led to a scramble by local authorities to establish noise limits before its enforcement. Rudofsky's decision emphasizes that Jones Digital's willingness to comply with the original July ordinance and the October ordinance's violation of state law.
The company, linked to Bono Management Inc. and under scrutiny for its high power consumption and foreign ownership, assures no environmental harm from its operations. The court's findings corroborate this, revealing no evidence of harmful noise levels or pollution. This decision paves the way for the company to begin operations, promising responsible community engagement and economic contributions to DeWitt and surrounding areas.
