#CFTC Appoints Coinbase and Ripple CEOs to 35-Member Crypto Panel

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission has appointed 35 members to its Innovation Advisory Committee, including executives from Coinbase, Ripple, Gemini and Polymarket. CFTC chair Mike Selig stated Thursday that the panel will help the regulator develop clear rules for American financial markets.

The committee replaces the Technology Advisory Committee and will advise on commercial and practical considerations for emerging products and platforms. Selig launched the panel in January, initially naming 12 charter members before expanding to the full roster announced this week.

Twenty of the 35 appointees are tied to companies involved in #cryptocurrency, while at least five work in #predictionmarkets. The regulator said it will also consider input from regulatory bodies, academic institutions, and public interest groups when forming policy.

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse, and Gemini CEO Tyler Winklevoss were named to the committee. Other #crypto executives include #Polymarket CEO Shayne Coplan, Kalshi CEO Tarek Mansour, and Crypto(dot)com CEO Kris Marszalek.

The list features representatives from Kraken, Bullish, Uniswap, Solana Labs, Blockchain(dot)com, Robinhood, Grayscale and Anchorage Digital. Traditional finance firms represented include Nasdaq, Intercontinental Exchange, Cboe Global Markets and CME Group.

Selig has indicated the CFTC will take a more receptive approach to crypto regulation and has begun coordination with the Securities and Exchange Commission on oversight frameworks. The regulator aims to ensure its decisions reflect market realities, according to Thursday's statement.
