Tether Introduces "Scudo": A New Unit of Account for 
$XAUt to Boost Usability
Tether has officially launched Scudo, a new denomination for its Tether Gold ( $XAUt ) token, aimed at simplifying the user experience for fractional gold ownership.
Key Specifications:
Ratio: 1 Scudo = 0.001 Troy Ounce of Gold = 0.001 $XAUt .
Purpose: To eliminate the friction of calculating complex decimal points (e.g., 0.00045 XAUT) during transactions, effectively standardizing a "retail-friendly" unit for gold.
Market Context: With gold trading at record highs (~$4,550/oz in Jan 2026), the entry price for a whole token has become prohibitive for micro-transactions. Scudo lowers the mental barrier to entry.
Backing: The underlying asset structure remains unchanged; $XAUt is still fully backed by physical gold bars in Swiss vaults.
This move signals Tether's intent to transition $XAUt from a passive store of value to an active medium of exchange within the DeFi ecosystem.
