#VitalikButerin Backs #Privacy Apps With $765K Donation
Vitalik Buterin has distributed approximately $765,000 in
$ETH between two encrypted messaging platforms working to advance privacy protections. Session and SimpleX received funds from the Ethereum creator as both services attempt to challenge established players Signal and #Telegram.
Buterin identified two critical development areas the platforms address. Permissionless account creation and metadata protection represent priorities where current mainstream services fall short of privacy standards.
Session constructed its architecture to minimize information leakage beyond message content. The platform limits collection of surrounding data like internet addresses and transmission timestamps that conventional messaging apps routinely gather.
The service's SESH token surged 371% following donation news, reaching $15 million in total market value. SimpleX emphasizes user control over identity information, contact lists and community participation through decentralized infrastructure.
