#Bitcoin Core #v30 Launches With Major Updates

Bitcoin Core developers released their v30 update Saturday, introducing node-related changes to architecture, performance, and security.

Key changes in Bitcoin Core 30.0 include optional encrypted connections between nodes for enhanced privacy and the OP_RETURN data limit increase within Bitcoin Core software. The limit jumped from 80 to 100,000 bytes, enabling significantly larger amounts of non-financial data in $BTC transactions.

Sunday's announcement stated that versions 27.x and older have reached "End of Life" and will no longer receive updates. The update also included bug fixes, performance improvements and fee rate changes.

The OP_RETURN limit increase has generated discussion within the Bitcoin community. This shift enables the development of more sophisticated and data-intensive decentralized applications on the network, with different perspectives on how this impacts Bitcoin's use cases.
