Steak 'n Shake Maintains
$BTC-Only Payment Strategy
Restaurant chain Steak 'n Shake made headlines over the weekend when it launched and then suspended a poll about accepting Ethereum payments.
The company asked its 468,800 X followers whether it should expand crypto payment options to include
$ETH. The poll attracted significant engagement, receiving 48,815 votes with 53% voting "yes" for Ethereum acceptance.
However, approximately four hours after launching the poll, Steak 'n Shake decided to suspend it. The company posted on X: "Poll suspended. Our allegiance is with Bitcoiners. You have spoken."
Steak 'n Shake has been accepting
$BTC as payment since May 16 across all locations where permitted by law, including the U.S., France, Monaco and Spain. This makes it one of the notable restaurant chains embracing
#crypto payments in the United States.
The Bitcoin-focused payment strategy appears to be working well for the business. The chain's third-quarter same-store sales rose 15% year-over-year, with the company partially attributing this growth to support from the Bitcoin community.
