$ZEC Shielded Transactions Return to ShapeShift #DEX
#ShapeShift has brought back support for $ZEC shielded transactions, marking a strategic return to #privacy-focused cryptocurrency services. The multichain DEX aggregator announced Thursday that its self-custodial platform now enables users to conduct private transactions through Zcash's shielded protocol.
The integration received $50,000 in funding from #Zcash Community Grants to support technical development and marketing initiatives. ShapeShift aims to deliver genuine on-chain privacy for its user base through this implementation.
This marks a reversal from 2020, when ShapeShift delisted privacy coins under regulatory pressure. However, the platform operated as a centralized instant exchange at that time, before transitioning to a decentralized structure and eliminating Know Your Customer requirements in 2021.
A ShapeShift DAO representative clarified that the organization now functions as a decentralized autonomous organization rather than the centralized entity it was in 2016. The community-governed structure operates transparently and builds publicly, distinguishing it from its previous corporate model.
