MetaMask Drops $30M LINEA Rewards Program Details This Month

MetaMask unveiled plans for a major on-chain rewards initiative distributing over $30 million in $LINEA tokens during its inaugural season, the popular Web3 wallet announced on X Saturday.

The program will roll out within the next couple of weeks, offering referral rewards, mUSD incentives, exclusive partner benefits, and token access. MetaMask described the initiative as one of the largest #onchain rewards programs ever built, emphasizing its commitment to regular community engagement.

$LINEA serves as the native token of Linea, an Ethereum layer-2 network incubated by Consensys, which also created MetaMask. The token launched in September with a 9.4 billion token airdrop, establishing infrastructure for the #rewards program.

Long-time MetaMask users will receive special benefits under the new structure. The wallet team confirmed the program will have meaningful connections to the forthcoming #MetaMask token, linking current participation to future utility within the ecosystem.

MetaMask emphasized that the program is not a farming play but represents a genuine method of regularly giving back to its community. The distinction addresses concerns about short-term speculation versus sustainable user engagement in #Web3 applications.

Ethereum co-founder and Consensys CEO Joseph Lubin announced the planned MASK token in mid-September. He indicated the token relates significantly to decentralizing certain aspects of the MetaMask platform, though specific details remain under development.

MetaMask's mUSD stablecoin launched around the same time, issued by Stripe-owned firm Bridge. The token currently has $87.7 million in circulating supply and operates on both #Ethereum and Linea networks without yield-bearing features.

The announcement drew mixed reactions on X, with some users expressing skepticism about the program's structure and implementation.
