$SOL Fall as Crypto #Liquidations Hit $442M in Market Downturn
The cryptocurrency market witnessed significant turbulence Thursday as liquidations reached $442 million within 24 hours. $377 million of these liquidations came from long positions, highlighting the severity of the market downturn.
$ETH bore the brunt of the selling pressure, accounting for over $180 million in liquidations. The second-largest cryptocurrency dropped 4.2% on the day and declined 12.9% over the past week. Ethereum trading at current levels has triggered widespread position closures.
$BTC contributed $63 million to the liquidation total despite a relatively modest 1.4% daily decline. The leading cryptocurrency's stability compared to other assets demonstrates its resilience during market stress. However, the substantial liquidation volume indicates significant leveraged exposure.
$SOL generated $34.8 million in daily liquidations after falling 5.1% during the session. The Solana network's native token joined the broader market sell-off that affected most major cryptocurrencies. Trading volumes remained elevated as investors reassessed their positions.
