$PWEASE #Solana a Token Surges 65% After VP Vance Meme Post

The seven-month-old meme coin $PWEASE skyrocketed within an hour of Vice President JD #Vance posting the viral meme on social media Wednesday. The token later gave up much of its gains, dropping 24% to a $4.65 million market capitalization, according to DEX Screener data.

The Pwease meme originated in February after Vance told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to say thank you for America's support in the war against Russia. The public spat went viral, spawning internet memes including edited images of a bald Vance with bulging eyes.

Another popular version depicted the VP as a round-faced child saying, "You have to say pwease and tank you, Mistow Zensky." A #memecoin naturally emerged from this viral content, soaring to a peak market cap of $54 million in early March before falling 92% by Tuesday.

Vance's social media repost revived the dormant token after it had faded from traders' minds over recent months. The VP shared the meme in response to political commentator Joy Reid suggesting he may have benefited from diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives when entering Yale University.

The meme's resurgence carries notable significance given the previous controversy surrounding the image. In June, a 21-year-old Norwegian tourist claimed U.S. immigration agents denied him entry for having the bald Vance image on his phone, calling it "dangerous, extremist propaganda."

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security denied those claims, stating the tourist was refused entry due to previous drug use rather than #meme content. Vance's willingness to repost the image himself demonstrates a shift in how political figures engage with viral internet culture.

President #Trump's official meme coin traded sideways during the same period, remaining down 9% over the past seven days.
