#x402 Foundation Launches Agent Payment Protocol


Cloudflare and $COIN have established the x402 Foundation to standardize machine-to-machine payments across the web. The protocol updates HTTP's unused 402 status code to enable seamless value exchange between websites and automated agents.


The x402 system allows clients to receive payment instructions through a 402 response, submit payment authorization, and gain resource access upon verification. This eliminates traditional barriers like subscriptions and API keys for digital interactions.


#x402Protocol demonstrate practical applications including AI assistants purchasing across multiple merchants and autonomous traders accessing real-time data feeds. The protocol supports various payment methods, from credit cards to #stablecoins.


Cloudflare's global network processes 78 million HTTP requests per second across 330+ cities worldwide. Their integration tools will work with Agents SDK and Model Context Protocol implementations.


$COIN's stablecoin infrastructure enables instant settlements for agent-to-agent and agent-to-business transactions. The foundation aims to establish x402 as the universal standard for autonomous commerce.
