Japanese treasury company Metaplanet has completed a $632.5 million
$BTC acquisition, purchasing 5,419 coins at an average price of $116,724. This transaction represents the company's largest single Bitcoin purchase to date.
The Tokyo-listed company trails only Strategy, Marathon Digital, XXI, and
$BTC Standard Treasury Company in corporate #Bitcoin holdings. Strategy (formerly known as #MicroStrategy) maintains its position as the largest holder with 638,985
$BTC, according to industry data.
Metaplanet's board approved Metaplanet Income Corp., a new U.S. subsidiary focused on Bitcoin income generation activities. The Miami-based entity will handle derivatives and related financial products separately from core treasury operations.
#Stock performance showed mixed investor reactions, with Japanese shares declining 0.5% while U.S.-traded shares gained 3.81% to $4.09. Despite recent volatility, the company maintains a 73.85% year-to-date gain.
Total holdings now reach 25,555
$BTC, valued at approximately $2.71 billion with an average purchase cost of $106,065 per coin. The acquisition establishes Metaplanet as the fifth-largest public corporate Bitcoin holder globally, surpassing Bullish.
