Tron Revenue Drops 64% After Gas Fee Reduction

$TRX network revenue plummeted to $5 million daily following the implementation of Proposal #789. The fee reduction represents the lowest revenue level in over a year for the blockchain network.

Daily network fees for Tron's Super Representatives fell from $13.9 million on Aug. 28 to $5 million by Sept. 7. The dramatic decline followed the approval of a proposal that slashed energy unit prices by more than half.

Proposal #789 became active on Aug. 29 after receiving support from the Super Representative community. The change lowered the energy unit price from 210 sun to 100 sun, reducing average #gasfees by 60%.

Community member GrothenDI issued the proposal to encourage increased network activity. The proposal stated that lower fees would "ensure the sustainable and healthy development of the Tron ecosystem."

The adjustment was designed to make transactions more affordable for users across the network. GrothenDI estimated the reduced fees could enable 12 million additional transfers, potentially offsetting revenue declines through volume increases.

Despite the revenue drop, Tron maintains its leadership position among layer-1 blockchains. Token Terminal data shows the network captured 92.8% of total layer-1 revenue over the past seven days.

#TRON generated $1.1 billion in fees over the past 90 days, significantly ahead of Ethereum, Solana, #BNBChain, and Avalanche. This performance demonstrates the network's continued strength despite reduced individual transaction costs.

Long-term revenue impact remains uncertain as the network adjusts to the new fee structure. The success of the proposal will depend on whether increased transaction volume can compensate for lower per-transaction revenue.

Super Representatives who validate and produce blocks experienced the direct impact of reduced earnings.
