$ETH Becomes Top Choice for #AIAgent Payments
$ETH is positioned to become the dominant #blockchain for AI agent transactions through a 30-year-old web standard that is finally finding its purpose. Coinbase developers say autonomous AI agents will become $ETH "biggest power user" using HTTP 402 and EIP 3009.
The forgotten HTTP 402 "Payment Required" status enables AI agents to make 
$USDC transfers without human intervention. Coinbase has already implemented this via their "x402 payments protocol," allowing agents to pay autonomously for services like API calls and data storage.
Developers Kevin Leffew and Lincoln Murr compared the process to a vending machine where AI agents receive HTTP 402 requests, sign transactions, and complete payments automatically.
Real-world applications are already emerging, with Hyperbolic Labs implementing it for large language models and Prodia Labs generating images and video content.
