#Coinbase Introduces 0.1% Fee for Large $USDC Dollar Conversions


#Coinbase will charge a 0.1% fee on $USDC to dollar conversions exceeding $5 million starting Aug. 13, down from the current $40 million threshold.


The exchange missed revenue expectations for two consecutive quarters, with Q2 results sending shares tumbling despite 12% growth in stablecoin revenue to $332 million.


CEO Brian Armstrong confirmed the fee targets arbitrage activity where users convert $USDT to $USDC for free off-ramping.


#Tether charges 0.1% or $1,000 minimum for direct redemptions, making the Coinbase route previously more attractive.


Senior product manager Will McComb called it an experiment to understand fee impacts on conversion behavior.
