#GENIUS Act Stablecoin Bill Stalls as Republicans Defy Trump's Orders


The GENIUS Act stablecoin legislation hit a procedural roadblock in the House of Representatives on Tuesday.


President #Trump had urged Republicans to pass the bill regulating payment stablecoins as part of "crypto week" initiatives.


At least 13 Republicans voted against the resolution to consider three crypto bills, defying Trump's Truth Social directive.


The legislation previously passed the Senate in June with bipartisan support after initial Democratic resistance.


House Speaker Mike Johnson indicated another vote would occur later the same day.


#Stablecoin regulation faces scrutiny over Trump's World Liberty Financial involvement, which issued its own $USD1 token.


Democrats launched "anti-crypto corruption week" demanding amendments for consumer protection and conflict-of-interest provisions.
