Senator Lummis Sets 2026 Target for Two Major Crypto Bills


Wyoming Senator Cynthia Lummis expects Congress to pass the #CLARITY Act and #GENIUS Act before the end of this calendar year.


Speaking at the Bitcoin Policy Summit, Lummis said she would be "extremely disappointed" if both bills didn't pass by 2026.


The CLARITY Act addresses digital asset market structure, while the GENIUS Act focuses on #stablecoin regulation.


Lummis chairs the Senate Banking Committee's digital asset subcommittee, which held hearings on crypto market structure legislation Tuesday.


Bipartisan support remains challenging due to concerns about #Trump family members potentially benefiting from crypto legislation.


The GENIUS Act previously passed with 68 "yea" votes, including 18 Democrats supporting the stablecoin framework.


Republicans hold a slim House majority, requiring Democratic support to pass both #crypto bills through Congress.


Trump indicated willingness to sign the GENIUS Act with "no add-ons" if it passes quickly through both chambers.
