-Gators Summary:
Nailwal announced that, with the largest number of POL tokens held, he will lead #Polygon Foundation as CEO.
The Polygon co-founder says that the foundation's good financial situation allows it to continue its development without resorting to fundraising.
The foundation plans to shut down Polygon zkEVM next year, focusing on Polygon POS and Agglayer development.
Sandeep Nailwall, one of the creators of Polygon's Layer 2 network, said he will take over as CEO of the Polygon Foundation. According to Nailwall, Marc Boiron, head of Polygon Labs, one of the many projects overseen by the foundation, will continue in his role.
The announcement comes amid a decline in the price of the POL #token , which has fallen more than 68% in the past six months.
Neilwall's decision is partly due to the urgent need to increase value for POL holders. Among the planned steps is to make Polygon POS capable of processing more than 5,000 transactions per second, which Neilwall says will put Polygon PoS among the top performing blockchains by September/October.
the last time Polygon raised $ 450 million in funding was for the sale of its POL token (then MATIC), which was announced in February 2022. The fund has no plans to raise funds in the near future, with Neilwall emphasizing that its good financial position allows it to continue building for the future.
