Argentina Clears President Milei in
$LIBRA Crypto Promotion Scandal
Argentina's Anti-Corruption Office has cleared President Javier Milei of violating public ethics rules in the
$LIBRA cryptocurrency promotion case.
The probe concluded that Milei's February post from his personal X account did not constitute official government activity or endorsement.
$LIBRA crashed 90% from its $2 billion peak market cap after Milei deleted the promotional post.
The scandal, dubbed "Cryptogate" by local media, sparked impeachment calls from opposition figures and investor lawsuits.
Milei requested the investigation to determine if any government members, including himself, engaged in improper conduct.
A federal criminal court investigation remains ongoing alongside a class action suit from Argentina, U.S., and U.K. plaintiffs.
Circle froze $57.6 million in
$USDC from two wallets belonging to Hayden Davis following a U.S. District Court order.
The OA report revealed that Davis first met with Milei on Jan. 30 through KIP Protocol representatives.
