$BTC Reserve Bill Advances in Texas Toward Final Approval
Texas House Committee has passed Senate Bill 21 to create a state
$BTC reserve in a 9-4 vote along party lines, advancing it to a full floor vote.
The legislation would establish the "Texas Strategic Bitcoin Reserve" controlled by the state comptroller, currently Glenn Hegar.
If approved by the full House, the bill would head to Governor Greg Abbott's desk, who has expressed desire to make Texas the "crypto capital" of the U.S.
The bill permits investment in #digitalassets with market caps exceeding $500 billion over the last 12 months, which currently only includes
$BTC.
Texas joins a growing movement of state-level Bitcoin reserves, with Arizona and New Hampshire recently signing similar legislation into law.
