Treasury Secretary Bessent Pushes for U.S. To Lead World Crypto Markets

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent declared Wednesday that the United States "should be the premier destination for digital assets" during the House Financial Services Committee testimony.

Bessent, who joined Trump's cabinet in January, emphasized the importance of creating "good market structure" and establishing U.S. best practices that can be adopted globally.

The Treasury chief serves on the President's Working Group on Digital Asset Markets following Trump's Jan. 23 executive order, reinforcing his previous statements that the #crypto economy is "here to stay."

House Republicans recently released a discussion draft outlining new roles for the CFTC and SEC, including disclosure mandates for digital assets.

The Senate's upcoming stablecoin regulation vote has faced resistance from multiple Democratic senators who cited "unresolved issues" in the current bill version.
