$ETH Implements #Pectra Upgrade With Revolutionary Smart Account Features

Ethereum has successfully deployed #Pectra , its most ambitious network upgrade since Dencun, going live Wednesday morning at 11:05 a.m. UTC.


The hard fork introduces groundbreaking wallet improvements through EIP-7702, allowing regular user accounts to temporarily function as smart contracts without address changes.


Validators can now stake up to 2,048 $ETH instead of just 32 $ETH , making rewards more efficient and simplifying multiple validator management.


The update doubles #blob capacity from 3 to 6 per block, potentially reducing layer-2 transaction costs while improving overall network throughput.


Developers acknowledge that while #Pectra offers significant advances, $ETH still needs a 5-8x increase in blob capacity to meet #layer-2 demand at current growth rates.
