#GENIUSAct Vote Forced by Senate Republicans Despite Bipartisan Opposition

Senate Republicans are advancing a Thursday vote on the GENIUS Act, a comprehensive #stablecoin regulation bill, despite mounting resistance from both parties.

Majority Whip John Thune filed cloture Tuesday on the motion to proceed with the bill that would impose licensing, reserve, and disclosure requirements on #stablecoin issuers.

At least three Republican senators—Rand Paul, Josh Hawley, and John Kennedy—have come out against the current version, complicating its path forward.

Nine Senate Democrats issued a joint statement opposing the bill, citing a lack of transparency around recent revisions.

With the GOP needing 60 votes and unable to secure sufficient Democratic support, the vote appears strategically timed to frame Democrats as obstructing #crypto policy ahead of the 2026 midterms.
